Down day? Here’s some pick me ups!

I am a happy person. By definition, people are paying their hard earned cash for a personal trainer to motivate them to get off their bums. But every now and then we all have off days where you just want to reset and start again. Here is a short list of things that can help improve your days when you just cannot be bothered.

1) Wake up earlier

By waking up half an hour earlier, rather than in the usual flurry of panic after your fourth snooze, you allow both your mind and body to wake up gradually. Your preparation routine will be relaxed and you will have plenty of time to pack your lunch, grab a coffee and maybe even have a sit down. If you wake up with minutes to spare then you are likely to start your day on the back foot which can cause feelings of stress and anxiety which we can carry around with us all day.

2) Sweat it out

By adding thirty minutes of activity into your daily routine you’ll release all those lovely endorphins which will help bring your mood up.  There are very few moods that can’t be shifted with a bit of exercise. Whatever activity brings you happiness, do that one!

3) Go outside

Rather than taking your lunch break at your desk, break the day up by taking yourself outside. Fresh air can help with concentration and energy levels so go for a brisk walk or even take your lunch with you.

4) Write things down

If you have a lot of things on your mind, try writing them down.  By doing this you are less likely to forget them and it can help your mind to switch off and relax. If we go to sleep while trying to compile a list we are far more likely to forget something.

5) Have a bath

End your day with some relaxation, run yourself a bath, add some Epsom salts and wash the day away.
