Firstly, I cannot state enough that vaginal odour is normal and even a healthy vagina will have a certain smell. However, sometimes odours can become stronger and unpleasant. This is usually caused by a pH imbalance and this is where Feminesse can help you.
So you’ve heard the term “pH imbalance” a lot, but what does it really mean:
pH is the level of acidity or alkalinity. Pure water has a pH level of 7 and is referred to as a neutral pH. A pH that is below 7 is acid and above 7 is alkaline. A healthy vagina with a normal pH level will be naturally acidic with a large amount of beneficial bacteria. A healthy vagina’s pH is between 3.5 and 4.5.
The reason the vagina is acidic is to reduce the chance of infection as many of the bacteria’s that affect the vagina prefer a higher pH environment.
What can change the pH balance?
There are a variety of things that could disrupt the vagina’s pH balance. Washing with some soaps, stress, menopause, sexual intercourse, pregnancy and sometimes even antibiotics can change your pH levels.
- Don’t douche! If you have an odour, douching will only mask the odour for a short time. Douching can also reduce the vagina’s acidity levels which in turn leaves you open to possible infections.
- Avoid washing with heavily scented soaps as these can affect the normal pH.
What Feminesse does
Unlike sprays or washes, Feminesse Gel works from within the vagina to eliminate vaginal odour. By maintaining the natural pH balance, this in turn combats the development of odour-producing amines (compounds).
A technique called bioadhesion ensures that each application of Feminesse Gel works to rapidly relieve vaginal odour for 3 days at a time.
Some women find applying Feminesse Gel slightly less frequently still keeps odour at bay. After all, everyone is different. You’ll soon find out what suits you best.
